Local furniture store begins final liquidation June 18
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 15, 2026) — Burke Furniture & Fine Rugs, a high-end furniture, bedding and rug retailer, is going out of business after 63 years in the same location. Its final liquidation sale opens to the public June 18, and the building has already been sold.
Independently owned and operated Burke Furniture & Fine Rugs has been providing premium quality home furnishings to Lexington-area communities and discerning customers since 1963. From humble beginnings in a 2,000-square-foot showroom, the family business expanded over the years to its current two-story building with 70,000-square-feet of showroom and warehouse space.
Burke Furniture & Fine Rugs will begin its biggest and final sale this week at 2950 Richmond Rd. with premium furniture brands, rugs, mattresses and accessories available at deep discounts. Mattress brands include BedTech, Kingsdown, Serta and Simmons. Other famous brand names like Bradington-Young, Bernhardt, Canadel, Flexsteel, Hammary, Hooker, Kincaid, Riverside, Sam Moore, Southern Motion, and Universal are among the inventory that must be liquidated. A large collection of heirloom quality area rugs from around the world are selling at 65% off and home décor marked down 50%.
